About Me

I have travelled near and far, lived overseas and yet, I find myself always drawn back to home. Cliche as it may be, to me personally, home is where the heart is. Home however, is not necessarily limited to a physical space, but rather a feeling. I believe that any space can feel like home – a place so cosy, we feel we can be ourselves and welcome others around us as well. A place where memories are made, life is fully lived and function meets form.

A cosy rumah is a place that ignites a feeling of cosiness where a space is personal, functional, aesthetically pleasing, welcoming and well-lived in.

I’ve written in more detail about what cosiness means to me here. Rumah means house or home in the Malay language. cosyrumah is essentially a platform for me to share what inspires me and document my journey of exploration into making my own cosy home. You will find here a healthy mix of Eastern and Western influence.

Hopefully as I walk further into this journey, more of you will be inspired and join me. Let’s be inspired to bring that cosy feeling into our living spaces.

The Person Behind This Space

Hailing from the exotic country of Malaysia, Diyana is a Malaysian blessed with a mixed heritage of Malay-Indian-Chinese-Scottish. She was fortunate to experience living abroad in Glasgow, Scotland at a very young age and went to university in Canberra, Australia.

Growing up, no matter how small the space may be, her mother always knew how to make any space feel like a cosy home. That has influenced her outlook in life and cemented her long-deep interest in design and interior decor. Her taste varies and is a reflection of her travels and interest. From local Malaysian batik designs, oriental vases to mid-century furniture and industrial open concepts. Anything that catches her eye and invokes a feeling, is something to be cherished.

Diyana is currently living with her husband in Kuala Lumpur where they are currently refreshing her arwah nenek (late grandmother’s) home. She works full-time as a sustainability practitioner in a bank and was previously a management consultant.
